Borobudur Temple no longer makes the seven wonders of the world. That’s what was announced in Lisbon, Portugal, Saturday (7 / 7) evening. From the choice of nearly 100 million voters, elected to the Taj Mahal in India, Pink ruins some centuries-old Petra in Jordan and the statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro. Also elected to the Inca ruins of Machu Picchu in Peru and the ancient Mayan city of Chichen Itza or in Mexico. Survive, a giant wall of China and the Roman Coliseum.

A private Swiss foundation launched the contest last January to allow the voters by telephone and the internet dropped the option. The seven sites are set aside some of your favorite candidate, such as the Acropolis in Greece, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, and the pride of Indonesia, Borobudur Temple.

The privately sponsored campaign was the idea of a Swiss filmmaker and museum curator Bernard Weber. This followed the destruction of giant statues of Buddha statues in Bamiyan, Afghanistan by the Taliban in 2001. However, the High Commission of United Nations Affairs of Culture (UNESCO), which set a world heritage site, refused to support these activities. It was assessed as a result of private initiative and does not give effect to the conservation of historic buildings in the world.
